About the Author

Kerstin E. White grew up in Germany and moved to the United States in her early twenties through a German work-study fellowship. Her passion for the French language and literature led her to Rutgers University, where she completed bachelor’s and master’s degrees in French and taught undergraduate French courses at several New Jersey universities.  She later discovered poetry therapy, which inspired her to get in touch with her own creativity and to begin her own process of writing for healing. She then completed a master’s in counseling psychology from Seton Hall University and developed a specialty in Jungian-oriented sandplay therapy. For a number of years, Kerstin worked at a therapeutic middle school as a clinician. She also led numerous therapeutic workshops in collaboration with artists to help traumatized youth access their creative potential for healing through writing and art.

Throughout her own healing journey and psychotherapy, Kerstin has explored her psychological and spiritual wounds as a survivor of early childhood trauma and a life-threatening illness.  In addition, she has delved into the transmission of intergenerational trauma as a result of her parents’ displacement and loss caused by World War II, and the challenges of her own immigrant experience.

A mother of three adult children, Kerstin and her husband lived for many years in New Jersey and currently reside in the seacoast area of New Hampshire. She enjoys hiking in the woods and walks on the beach, international and domestic travel, reading inspirational memoirs and novels, and biking and swimming. A lifelong seeker of new inner and outer landscapes, she continues on her journey toward healing and wholeness.
